Membership Levels
There are five levels of paid DMTF membership, four available for the public (Leadership, Participation, Monitoring and Sponsored), with the fifth being Board membership. Board members are elected by DMTF Voting members (Board & Leadership level members). In addition to the paid memberships, there are two designated for non-profits (by invitation of the DMTF Board) Alliance Partner membership and Academic Alliance membership. Government and End User companies can join the DMTF at reduced rates (see below).

In addition to receiving DMTF specifications and access to DMTF developed standards, Leadership Members have full voting privileges and have the opportunity to lead the definition and development of management through participating in or chairing DMTF committees, subcommittees, or working groups. Working groups provide a forum for defining DMTF standards that apply to specific product categories, such as Networks, Systems, Applications, or Support. DMTF Leadership Members are invited to join multiple groups, as applicable to their areas of interest and expertise. These fast moving, aggressive teams create the standards specifications for management. Benefits of the Leadership level of membership include:
- Voting participation on DMTF committees, subcommittees, and working groups
- Ability to chair a DMTF committee, subcommittee, or working group
- Ability to establish new working group charters
- Ability to join an incubator as a Leadership Member
- Participation in any number of DMTF committees, subcommittees, and working groups
- Participation in DMTF SM Forum, CDM Forum, and VCM Forum programs. *Additional fee may apply
- Involvement in press activities, tradeshow events, and Web postings
- Early access to DMTF-developed technology, tools, and information available on the DMTF members-only Web site
- Listed as a member on the DMTF Web site

Participation Members receive access to DMTF specifications, standards, and tools for development of management and managed products and services. Participation members have the opportunity to participate in as many working groups as they choose. Benefits of this level include:
- Voting participation in any number of DMTF working groups
- Non-voting participation in any number of DMTF subcommittees
- Participation in DMTF SM Forum, CDM Forum, and VCM Forum programs. *Additional fee may apply
- Ability to join an incubator as a Reviewing Member
- Involvement in press activities, tradeshow events, and Web postings
- Early access to DMTF-developed technology, tools, and information available on the DMTF members-only Web site
- Listed as a member on the DMTF Web site

Monitoring membership includes access to valuable content and communications on the member side of the DMTF Web site, such as advanced access to DMTF specifications.

- Listed as a member on the DMTF Web site
Use the Online Membership Form to join the DMTF as a Monitoring Member.
Sponsored membership is for individuals without corporate or government affiliation who wish to participate in the development of DMTF standards. This category is intended primarily for self-employed contractors who would like to get involved in the work of the DMTF. The individual is "sponsored" by an existing DMTF member, who will verify that the applicant meets the eligibility requirements.* Sponsored member privileges include:
- Voting participation in any number of DMTF working groups
- Non-voting participation in any number of DMTF subcommittees
- Early access to DMTF-developed technology, tools, and information available on the DMTF members-only Web site
- Sponsored members may also chair working groups, with Board approval

The DMTF values working with affiliated industry organizations, and the Alliance Partner membership is a way for the DMTF to formalize synergistic relationships with other standards groups. Strictly for not-for-profit organizations in the standards arena, the Alliance Partner membership level is offered at no charge. Alliance Partner members may participate in DMTF working groups as non-voting members. Alliance Partner members also have access to the DMTF members-only Web site and member email lists. This membership category is intended to clarify roles and provide mutual benefit to the organizations and the DMTF. Alliance Partner membership is an important way the DMTF is helping unify management initiatives and develop more solid partnerships.

The DMTF values input from the academic world and is open to providing information to faculty and students who are studying and researching management standards. The Academic Alliance membership is a free membership for individuals of accredited institutions of higher learning. Academic Alliance Members have access to the DMTF members-only Web pages and member email lists. Academic Alliance Members are eligible to participate in a single DMTF working group as non-voting members.
