Press Release Content:

Portland, Ore. –July 30, 2012 – The Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, and the China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) today announced they have formed a partnership to drive adoption of DMTF cloud management standards in China, an important step on the path towards enabling worldwide interoperable IT management.

Both DMTF and CESI are committed to promoting a standards-based approach to cloud management. The groups plan to share documents and resources to help ensure consistent application of cloud standards in the industry. DMTF will work to make its standards meet requirements outlined by CESI, while CESI will encourage Chinese companies, universities and non-profit organizations to adopt  DMTF standards such as the Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI), the Open Virtualization Format (OVF) and future DMTF standards for cloud auditing and software license management . This collaboration will reinforce the importance of industry standards and help CESI to more efficiently develop Chinese national standards.

“Standards adoption will be critical to facilitating a smooth transition to cloud-based management models across the globe,” said Mark Carlson, DMTF VP of Alliances. “DMTF welcomes the opportunity to partner with CESI to drive adoption of our standards in China, where many companies are actively working on new cloud technologies.”

“DMTF has a successful track record of developing management standards that achieve international adoption,” said Jun Liu, Deputy Director, CESI. “CESI is pleased to be working with DMTF to help encourage widespread implementation of cloud standards in China.”
