The DMTF Academic Alliance announces the creation of the first workshop dedicated to academic research on standards and new technologies for systems and virtualization management. This first event comes in addition to the technical and developers' events organized for several years by the DMTF, and will take place on October 23, 24 in Toulouse, France.
The primary theme of SVM 2007 will be "Systems and Virtualization Management: Standards and New Technology". Systems management has recently seen growing interest in virtualization technology and the need to manage the virtualization of server, storage and network resources. The goal of SVM 2007 is to illuminate related standards and research issues, covering areas such as: what are the implication of virtualization on distributed systems management, what advances in information models and protocols aid in managing virtualization, what new problems will we incur when managing virtualized systems and services, and how management itself might benefit from virtualization. Submissions on topics related to managing distributed systems, virtualization of distributed resources/services and work in management standardization are thus particularly encouraged.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Management of Virtualized Resources
- Use and extension of management standards
- System management tecniques
- Use of virtualization for management
- Server and Desktop management
- Policy based management
- Techniques for scaling system management
- Development and use of management protocols
- Management automation
- Use of SOA in management of distributed systems
- Web services based management
- Diagnostics and Fault managment
- Management Behavior and State modeling
- Information models for management
- Instrumentation and metrics for management
- Infrastructure for management
- Experience implementing and deploying management technology
Authors are requested to submit either long or short papers:
- Long papers (up to 10 single-spaced single-column pages)
- Short papers describing work-in-progress or position works(up to 4 pages)
